Restoring this door a great deal of took time and care. Once we'd removed the heavy door and arched frame - which was tricky in itself - we took them to our workshop, removed the paint and carefully repaired the door and frame. Then we painted them with primer, so when we reinstalled them, they were ready for final decoration.
